In developing our strategy we identified projects that can play a meaningful role in achieving our sustainability goals and have assessed each and built them into our sustainability roadmap. We have divided our roadmap into near-term (6-12 months) and medium-term (2-5 years), so that we have a clear plan laid out in working towards our goals and demonstrating progress.
As one of our key values, sustainability is central to our business and we consider not just its relevance to our business, but also how we can help to achieve Oman’s UN Sustainable Development Goals, and Oman 2040 Vision targets, by bringing wider benefits to the Omani fishing and aquaculture industries, our local communities and providing a model of how sustainable business can be profitable.
In the Community pillar of our strategy, our vision is for local communities to know who we are and what we do and to build trust, demonstrating that FDO are trustworthy, adhere to regulations and standards in Oman and internationally.
We aim to build expertise and create attractive opportunities,
Identifying projects that will benefit our local communities and our industry by reducing our emissions, building skills and providing opportunities for training and employment. We aim to establish attractive career pathways in our industry and gradually reduce our dependence on foreign skills.
We work on building the FDO brand association with both quality and environmental responsibility.
Build trust and open up dialog between FDO, subsidiaries, investor and communities, so that FDO’s sustainability and impacts can be openly discussed and improved.
Our attendance and participation at key events, roadshows and exhibitions will help to share what our brand stands for and develop relationships with potential partners, suppliers, customers and employees.
We strive to maximise shareholder investment by scaling up operations in an environmentally responsible way. We aim to demonstrate that all investment will yield monetary benefit as well as minimising environmental impact.
The environment sustains the biomass that is the foundation of our business, so we aim to positively impact it and to operate without disturbing natural biomass levels.
Our projects will all have associated measures and data, by which we will be able to demonstrate our performance and progress.
